Olympus XA1 35mm mechanical, simple compact camera in very good working condition.
The camera has been checked, tested, cleaned and fitted with new light seals. Ready to shoot, the camera requires no batteries and the light metering works like the Trip 35, with selenium cells. The clam design protects the lens and light cells when closed.
We have checked that the camera's exposure system works, with the aperture and shutter adjusting according to varying light levels. The film advance thumb wheel (similar to the Trip 35) works smoothly.
This is the simplest of the XA series cameras and was made from 1982-85. It has a fixed focus 35mm f4 - f22 lens with shutter speeds ranging from 1/30 - 1/250 sec. You set the film speed on the base, either 100 or 400 ASA.
This one is in good condition with some signs of use evident on the case, but it has a lovely clear lens and bright viewfinder. Because it is simple, there is less to go wrong.
It was designed by Yoshihisa Maitani who also designed the Olympus Pen and OM series cameras. These XA series cameras are now becoming popular again and we think they will be a future classic. It represents very good value for money, but prices are starting to go up. The XA1 is certainly easy to use and small enough to fit in the pocket.
With this camera, we are offering a 6-month warranty.
