Trip Man

Very Early Trip 35, Feb 1968, almost mint, boxed with early accessories

£195

A beautiful original Olympus Trip 35 built in 1968, one of the first of Trip 35's manufactured.

6-digit serial number cameras are now quite rare and collectible. This one has a serial number of 126190 and the film pressure plate has a date code  '8 - 2' showing it was built in February 1968. There are 3 prongs on the film pressure plate. Later models had just 2.

Internally there are different screws in the lens and more heavy duty componenets like brass threads/cogs. There is a nice strip of velvet in the film chamber, which is only present on the very earliest Trips. The flash hot shoe is the rarer nice shiny chrome one and the rewind lever is more recessed than later versions. The maximum film speed is 200 ASA - most later versions have up to 400 ASA.

This one is in lovely original condition with the original black leatherette and good black paintwork, which has not been touched-up. It has the original 'Passed' sticker on the top plate, next to the serial number (later models all had the sticker on the other side of the hot shoe).

We have completed a full service and cleaned inside and out, and fully tested the light meter and shutter. The red flag pops up when the light is too low. New light seals have been fitted and it is ready to use.

The 40mm Zuiko lens is lovely and clear, free from marks, scratches, dust or fungus. The viewfinder has also been cleaned and is nice and bright and clear. The focus symbols on the lens are all in amber, whereas all later versions had a red 'group' symbol.

In almost mint condition - there are no dents or scratches, just some signs of wear on the door and hinge and a tiny mark on the end of the top plate where a strap has possibly come into contact - see photos.

The photos are of the actual camera for sale. We only get a few of these cameras each year. This is one of the best examples we have ever seen! You will be hard pressed to find a nicer one.

The camera is supplied with an original push-on Olympus lens cap  It has the original early (silver button camera) instructions, warranty card and original Trip 35 box (very good condition).

A great investment.
